The Troögytruium is an artificial specie of fish specifically meant for ecosynthesis on terraformed planets. They, like all ecosynthites, has a high rate of mutation and reproduction. This often results in the original Troögytrium specie going extinct after a decade or so.
At 10.4 meters, Troögytrium are fairly large fish even for a synthetic specie. Possessing 4 eyes, they have a wide field of vision. Two of the eyes are normal visual eyes. The third eye, behind the two primary, is heat vision and very sensitive. The fourth eye, forward of the two primary, detects electrical activity. The fish has a flat body with a pair of fins of the sides of its tail for propulsion. One of its most unusual features are photochromatic scales that cover its entire body, allowing it to change color. Reproduction is especially unusual as the their two pelvic fins are in actuality two baby Troögytrium. They're born by them breaking off and swimming from the parent fish via mitosis. Real pelvic fins then replace the lost ones. They are still capable of sexual reproduction, although it is less common. A thick bony head plate and spinal armor protect the fish from attack and radiation extremes.
